Professor (m/f/d) for E-Commerce and Digital Platform Economics Potsdam, Berlin Full‑time Fixed‑term Your Responsibilities The opportunity: The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high‑quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation within the academic community.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping and delivering innovative programmes in HR Analytics, Strategic Talent Management, and Work Innovation, with a focus on integrating data‑driven workforce planning, digital employee experience platforms, and organisational network analysis into the curriculum.

Module responsibility and teaching of Gisma’s Bachelor and Master programmes, particularly in the fields of E‑Commerce Strategy, Digital Platform Economics, Marketplace Management, Digital Consumer Behaviour, and multi‑sided platform optimisation, as well as examination, assessments, and student supervision.

Active participation in programme development, quality assurance, and the integration of relevant applied tools and methodologies into the curriculum.

Initiate, expand, and maintain cooperation with partners in industry and research organisations, particularly in e‑commerce marketplaces, digital platform tech firms, digital marketing agencies, and retail‑tech innovations. Active engagement in academic administration and committee work.

Further development of a personal and institutional research profile in E‑Commerce Business Models, Platform Governance and Regulation, Network Effects, or Digital Market Microeconomics, publication of results in high‑quality journals, and engagement in public dissemination.

Support outreach activities, including student recruitment events and promotion of related business study pathways. Your Profile Completed university studies in a relevant discipline such as E‑Commerce, Digital Business, Economics with a focus on industrial/platform organisation, Digital Marketing, or Business Information Systems.

Proof of extraordinary qualification for scientific work in the form of an outstanding doctorate and/or a strong record of high‑impact, peer‑reviewed publications. A minimum of three years of qualified professional experience, including at least two years outside a university environment, gained after a master’s degree or equivalent.

Proven university‑level teaching experience, with competence in blended, online, and interactive learning methodologies. Student evaluations should reflect excellent pedagogical aptitude.

A strong affinity for cutting‑edge methodologies, software, and tools, specifically related to e‑commerce engine architectures, platform management platforms, conversion optimisation tools, and web traffic analytics engines. A publication record in fields matching the professorship scope or relevant digital ecosystems.

Experience in developing and leading research projects, ideally with success in acquiring third‑party funding. Innovative perspectives for advancing research and curriculum in the specified professorship domain. Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.
